How Can I get Involved?
Bus
Our buses are custom built Mobile Youth Centres that draw our largest crowds. They are fully equipped with games consoles, board games, and even a kitchen! They go all across London and drive into the heart of the young people’s communities.
Some young people come just to have fun, but there’s also a chance to engage in great discussions and activities. You don’t need any special skills as we’ll give you training and our XLP staff take lead on all sessions. Time Commitment A minimum of two hours a month, but could be every week. |
Music
Our music sessions happen in our custom built Mobile Recording Studio that travels around London to schools and communities, or in our fully equipped recording studio at our youth hub in Stratford.
Young people can write lyrics and make their own music. Volunteers play a big part in encouraging the young people’s creativity without needing to know all the tech stuff. If you’re into music, especially UK Drill, Grime, Hip-Hop, or R&B, this is for you! Time Commitment A minimum of two hours a month, but could be every week. |
Sports
If you love sports and being around young people, this opportunity is perfect. You’ll help create a supportive place where young people can be their best, both physically and mentally.
We have football teams for girls and boys all over London, and we’ve got a fully equipped gym at our youth hub in Stratford. Time Commitment A minimum of two hours a month, but could be every week. |
Mentoring
Mentoring means spending time with a young person every week, one-to-one. You’ll be a trusted role model and someone they can look up to in their journey towards achieving their goals.
You’ll provide a space that introduces the young person to new experiences and helps them explore their interests. You don’t need special skills as our Mentoring Team will train and support you all the way. If you want to make a real difference in a young person’s life and help them grow, this is for you! Time Commitment An hour a week, over a year, to ensure a lasting difference is made in the young person’s life. |
Tutoring
Online tutoring is a great way to help a young person with their school journey. You will work with students getting ready for their English or Maths GCSEs, guiding them with their revision and studies.
You don’t need any special skills as our Tutoring Team will help you out, giving you all the information and resources you need. Time Commitment An hour a week for up to a year, for a minimum of two academic terms. |
Employability
Our Employability programme helps young people aged 16-24 to get ready for work. Hosting an employment skills workshop, either at your office or online, can really help a young person at the start of their career journey. A typical session you could provide might include guidance on CV writing and interview technique. As a volunteer or company, you can broaden young people’s horizons by helping them to explore new opportunities in the world of work.
