Come to learn, be inspired, and to serve...

XLP is teaming up with local churches in the London Boroughs of Southwark and Tower Hamlets this summer to offer you a fantastic week of bible study, youth work and social actions projects. If you have a passion for youth work, want to put your faith into practice, or just fancy experiencing a bit of London – XLP’s Urban Mission Week is a great way of experiencing an amazing week of Christian mission and most importantly, making a real positive difference to the communities of Southwark and Tower Hamlets.

Why get involved?

> A great opportunity to put your faith into action:

“What I experienced was an intense week of social action that really pushed me and required my faith to become a reality.”

There is a strong emphasis throughout the week on Bible study and worship. You are encouraged to explore and develop your faith on a personal level but are also the opportunity to outwork the Word practically, putting your faith into action through sports sessions, arts and crafts activities, and a variety of practical projects including gardening, car washing and regeneration projects.

“I left with a real hope that the Kingdom of God would become a reality in the lives of all those living in Tower Hamlets.”

Although XLP lives and works in these communities week in, week out, the broad reach of Urban Mission Week encourages the whole community to come together in a way it wouldn’t usually. This creates amazing opportunities to build new relationships, go deeper with the ones that already exist, and have a practical, positive impact on the lives of those you meet.

“To be part of a team of people who gave themselves so recklessly to God, each other and the outside community, in the way that the Urban Mission Week team did, was truly inspiring.”

If you are considering a gap year with XLP or simply interested in exploring London and the diverse communities that call it home – Urban Mission Week is a great way of being part of an amazing team, getting a taste of London life and gaining a great insight into the work of XLP.
