Tower Hamlets is a vibrant and diverse borough at the heart of London’s East End, home to Spitalfields Market, as many curry houses you could ever want (and that’s just on Brick Lane), the Underage Festival in Victoria Park, the London Muslim Centre, the Tower of London, and the UK’s grime music capital, Bow. The borough has the largest Bangladeshi population outside of Bangladesh itself (almost a third of its 200,000 residents).
Tower Hamlets is an exciting place to live, but there are some stark contrasts: from Canary Wharf with its wine bars, restaurants and major banks, to some of the highest levels of unemployment and deprivation in Britain, existing side by side.
