Greenwich / Bexley
The borough of Greenwich is well known for its historical maritime, beautiful parks and fantastic architecture. All of which, you can find, if you walk through and visit the heart of Greenwich.
If you step outside of that, there are sometimes not such scenic attractions to catch the eye, closing down schools, estates, vandalism etc. and these are the places that we try and reach by getting along side the young people in these areas.
By working in their schools and communities we can build relationships with the fantastic young people that live here, by helping them to realise what they can achieve and what they are worth. We run lunchclubs, take lessons and assemblies and do it in a way that they enjoy and find accessible.
In a school that is closing down by losing another year group each year, it can sometimes seem like not a lot is there to give those young people much hope. Yet by playing a few games and discussing some of the issues that they face, we find ourselves with more than 30 young people each week aged 13-16 laughing, chatting and being empowered to do more.
